Happy Thursday.

As we enter Q3, I’m excited to share that the Q2 2026 Angel Network Pulse report is coming later this month, featuring the 39 deals, 29 networks, and 18 states we covered last quarter. We’re targeting a 7/15 release date - stay tuned!

In today’s issue:

πŸ”₯ Angel Deals of the Week

Angel funding rounds announced in recent weeks, compiled from public sources or via direct announcement. These deals represent the elite few that survived an angel network’s vetting process. Note: I have not personally analyzed these companies and am sharing for informational purposes only.

Job Machine | AI automates institutional job placement

Participating Group: Aggie Angel Network

Job Machine is developing an AI platform that automates job placement for workforce boards, community colleges, and outplacement firms, institutions that risk losing funding if they miss placement targets. The platform builds resumes, submits applications, schedules interviews, and documents verified employment outcomes. According to the company, a pilot with a workforce center saw placement rates rise from roughly 10% to over 55%. The Aggie Angel Network invested in Q2 2026.

Sesh Incorporated | Precision oncology blood test for cancer treatment

Participating Group: San Diego Angel Conference

Sesh Incorporated is commercializing RELOAD, a liquid biopsy blood test (a non-invasive test that analyzes blood instead of tissue) developed with scientists at the National Cancer Institute to detect a biomarker that reveals when a patient's cancer has evaded the immune system, helping oncologists choose the right immunotherapy. The San Diego Angel Conference awarded Sesh a $200,000 investment as part of a $750,000 pre-seed round. Funds will support clinical validation, software deployment to labs, and business development.

SPONSOR | AI platform for climate project finance

Participating Group: ASU InvestU

SPONSOR is developing an AI-powered platform to help originators, lenders, and advisors structure and close large-scale climate mitigation projects, such as wind farms and solar infrastructure. The company says annual investment in the sector falls well short of what climate goals require, with slow deal processes and a fragmented marketplace creating a multitrillion-dollar funding gap. Operating across 12 countries, SPONSOR recently raised $5 million in seed funding with participation from ASU InvestU members, with proceeds earmarked for regulatory approvals and the launch of the SPONSOR Exchange, a proposed global securities exchange for climate finance.

πŸ₯‡ The Nugget: My Top Takeaway from A Conversation with Steven Miller

Government experience β‰  government sales πŸŽ–οΈ

A stacked advisory board is not always as β€œstacked” as it seems. Experience buying from, advising, or operating government agencies is useful, but none of that means a team member knows how to sell to the government. And in dual-use, knowing how to sell into that maze is often the difference between life and death.

❝

From Steven: "Just because somebody has worked for the government at a very high level doesn't mean that they know how to sell to the government."

Takeaway: Next time a dual-use (or any government-contracting) founder flourishes a roster of generals and officials, ask: "Has anyone on that list ever closed a serious government deal?"

πŸ’Ό Delegate and Elevate

Sourcing. Screening. Member updates. Newsletters. Event management. Reporting.

If you're running an angel group, you’re all too familiar with this list, because these tasks are filling your entire calendar and you’re unable to invest in growing the network the way you’d like to.

Good news: Alongside The Diligent Observer, I run an outsourced operations service for angel networks, and that's the exact gap my team fills. We're currently supporting 5 groups, 200+ angels, and over $5M deployed last year.

I’m opening space for just one more new start later this fall - if your plate feels heavier than it should, let’s chat.

Until Next Week πŸ‘‹

Thanks for reading - have a great week.
