I’m Loving This Book Right Now: After seeing Ilya Strebulaev present at the Angel Capital Association event this month, I picked up his book “The Venture Mindset”. I’m just a few chapters in, but I already recommend for anyone who wants to be a better angel investor. 🚀
In partnership with the Angel Capital Association

If you want to connect with experienced angel investors, stay ahead of trends, and tap into a wealth of resources, the Angel Capital Association (ACA) is the place to be. With 15,000+ members and $650M+ invested annually, ACA brings together the best minds in angel investing.
From Angel University’s practical education to the annual ACA Summit and exclusive reports, ACA equips members with the tools and connections to make smarter decisions. I’ve really enjoyed being part of this community, and I highly recommend it to anyone serious about angel investing.
🥇 The Nugget: My Top Takeaway from This Week’s Conversation with Marcia
Clarity is Kindness 🚫
When entrepreneurs fundraise, they're juggling 2.5 full-time jobs - building their company, maintaining some semblance of personal life, AND courting investors.
This fundraising marathon becomes exponentially more painful when investors won't provide clear answers.
Marcia often asks founders on her Angel Next Door Podcast what feedback they’d give to angels. Here’s one of her takeaways:
From Marcia: "The biggest one I hear over and over and over again is… just be able to say no if the answer's no. If you already know that you're not interested in investing... just be honest, get to that 'no' faster so that then the entrepreneurs aren't wasting all their time."
Takeaway: Clarity is kindness. Be honest, and if you’ve come to a decision that you're not investing, communicate that decision quickly and directly. Every day an entrepreneur spends chasing a potential "yes" that's actually a "no" is a day they could have spent finding an actual "yes" elsewhere.
